I also offer DO IT YOURSELF FAMILY LAW KITS (Adult name change, Adult adoption, Divorce, Modification, Paternity, etc.) for people that want do save money and are willing to work together. My kit is designed specifically for your family. I use Texas forms. (Beware of on-line or store kits that were not designed and written by a Texas family law attorney. Many of the books and kits I've reviewed will NOT work in the Houston, Texas courts!)
My prices depend on how much work I do - a simple "ANSWER" is $25. A uncontested case with no kids, property or debts is under $200. I've done "complex" divorces (kids, cars, house, investments, etc. for under $1,000). I just charge for the time I spend meeting with you & preparing the documents. My kit includes where to park to go to the Harris County family law courthouse, what to wear, what to say to the Judge -- everything you need to know to do it yourself. If you want me to go down with you then I charge $200 to appear in court with you.
I also offer pre-divorce consultation with one or both parties to discuss your options and make you aware of current Texas law. at the rate of $150/hour.
Court Ordered Mediations are $300 total for a 4-hour mediation. If your mediation takes longer than 4 hours, I charge by the hour.
